Description

For each moment of the year, there is different seasonal rituals that our ancestors have practiced in order to stay connected with the sacred core of life, many of them depending on the plants that were available around them at that time.

During summer, majestic mullein shoots their stems into the sky like a king’s staff, adorning it with bright yellow flowers that resemble the sun.

Between late summer and autumn, after they’d gone to seed, the dried out mullein stalks were gathered by the people and could then be used as candles or torches when drenched in oil or wax.

Especially now, during the dark months but also during this dark chapter of human history, I see how mullein can serve us as a string, fierce, yet gentle guide and bearer of light & hope!

For that reason, I have collected mullein stalks like my forebearers did and coated them in seven layers of organic beeswax.

They are intended as either candles or torches, to accompany you through the darkness and gift you moments of ritual and sacred connection to those who walked before us, those who take care of us, and those who come after.

Each candle is 20 to 25cm long and they are available as singular pieces or in bundles of three.

To light them, peel avay some wax at the tip until you can see the plant stalk, then light them as you would a candle.
